From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
